The Cavern Dwellers

promotional poster

As Ralph's been wont to say over the last couple of years, it's not just about the music, but all aspects of 'Indie' life, from shops and restaurants to film making and crowd funding. So it was with great interest that he caught word of The Cavern Dwellers, a project by St Helens film maker Dean Baldwin where he was crowd funding his latest film using local St Helens landmarks and actors from the North West of England.

In order Craig Baldwin , Dean Baldwin (me) and Les Baldwin
The film they wish to produce is called The Cavern Dwellers, and it's a tongue in cheek horror inspired by the myths and legends surrounding the Crank Caverns. The Caverns, near St Helens are the subject of many of legend and myth including witches , spooky white rabbits but more interestingly blood thirsty cannibals making it an amazing location to make a film.

The eerie entrance to the caverns
In the early 1900’s a series of eerie disappearances and horrific attacks were reported at the Crank Caverns forcing the authorities to send the army to investigate. Horrified by what they found two soldiers had no choice but to seal the caverns off forever using explosives.

A Century on and William and his friends like to get their kicks by exploring sites of haunted and mythical interest. When the group decide to spend a night at the caverns they get more than just myth as a series of tremors in the area unearth an ancient evil.

webpageLead in to the caverns by a mysterious stranger the group soon get split up and encounter a tribe of blood thirsty cannibals that feed on human flesh. With his friends dying one by one and his pregnant girlfriend in mortal danger William must choose whether to run like a coward or break the habit of a lifetime and venture into the darkness to face The Cavern Dwellers.

Needless to say Ralph's interest was also piqued by the soundtrack which includes tracks by Target Renegades who have been played regularly on the Radio KC Indie Show. It also features Blast Tyrant and Quadrant. So why not click on this link and read more about the film and take the opportunity to pledge and become a part of The Cavern Dwellers family.
