Transition, Baby! .....changing with the times.....

Now here's a band that have recently come to my attention.  Transition Baby are an original indie/rock band with a dynamic sound and energetic live show. They consider their music to be a step forward in terms of their contemporaries in the indie/rock scene.  It's fresh and catchy yet its roots are clearly evident in their influences (The Strokes, We Are Scientists, Modest Mouse). They've a large and loyal fan base, ranging from 14-40+ years of age.

They were formed in September 2009 and are from Tameside in Manchester.  They are James Cotterill, Joe Dobie, Andy forshaw and Danny Arrowsmith and and are all 20 years of age,  met at school and college and practice at Blue Print Studios in Salford.

My Photos by They've had incredible experiences playing shows in Manchester over the last two years, including: TheRoadhouse, Ralph's favourite the Dry Bar and Moho’s. They've also had the privilege of performing at The Cavern in Liverpool and in the final of a national competition at the IndigO2Arena in London. They typically play shows in Manchester but are no strangers to playing further afield and that's something they're looking to build upon in 2012.

Given the US band influences stated above they maintain a very British post punk/rock vibe with tunes like the excellent, choppy guitar driven, almost Buzzcocks - esque like (yes they're still on the go) 'Hot Out The Oven'.

Guitar skills to the fore again on 'Grit' which has an XTC like quality and had this Jack Russell's head nodding.  They're a very musically accomplished, professional, tight sounding band with songs that'll get the joint jumping at their forthcoming gigs of which I hope to have news of soon.

'Manners Are Wasted On You' is a cracking track with  undertones of Be Bop Deluxe (if you're old enough to remember) and a nice little Ska riff running through it.

So all in all they're ones to watch, I know I'll be keeping an eye on them for news of gigs and any more tunes that may be in the pipeline.....In the meantime here's their first release 'Lost'.....
